Welcome to Seventh Grade!
Course Description: The seventh grade Science course presents a scientific study of the structure and function of living organisms. Attention is given to important principles and concepts that help students understand that there are general characteristics of life evident in every organism. Lab work and “hands-on” activities are a basic part of this course, including the use of microscopes and other scientific equipment. This issue oriented approach helps students understand the everyday relevance of science. Emphasis is given to practical implications and everyday applications that are meaningful to middle school students.
Objectives: Objectives for this course are for each student to be able to work independently as well as work together in groups. We will be doing a lot of “hand-on” activities involving many steps along with the use of different equipment. Good listening skills and following teacher directions are key to a successful year.
Evaluation: The marking period grade will consist of tests/projects, quizzes (announced and unannounced), homework, and participation. Participation consists of being in class on time, being prepared, working well with others, doing class work, and contributing to class discussions.

Homework Policy:
I may not assign homework every day. I check homework the day it is due (most likely the day after the assignment is given, unless otherwise specified). If a student does not have their homework completed by the assigned time, they can return it ONE day late for half credit.
Grading Homework:
All Complete = √… 20 points Half Complete = √- … 10 points Incomplete = 0 … 0 points
After 5 homework assignments, I will add the homework scores and give a homework grade. The students will receive a homework grade upon the completion of five assignments.
